I thoroughly enjoyed the book as it was like a trip down memory lane for me. For those of us who grew up here or are otherwise, long time Phoenix residents, then this book will remind you of the “Good Ole Days” when the state was still young and when Phoenix was mentioned people would remark “ that’s in Arizona isn’t it?”
I had no idea Jack Stewart owned or was involved in the many businesses mentioned in this book. It seemed like he was involved in everything that was going on and was a big part of the city’s history.
Mrs. Zell does a great job setting the tone and gives the reader context for the explosive growth Phoenix experienced when the Vets returned from the War. Who better to write this than someone who was there, who knew Jack as a father and as a businessman. This book is a must read for Arizona historians and a must have for regional library’s and collections."
