• Really interesting and enlightening, makes me optimistic that we can change the world for the better.
• The concept behind this book is noteworthy and explained in the book itself, but I see it as a feel good story for how two successful individuals are doing what they love in life and nothing more or less.
• What an incredible take on the ideas of social justice and values based business in today's world. Fascinating and interesting with lots of great, practical tips and how to's.

• No matter where you are in your career -- at the beginning, the middle or looking for an encore career post "retirement" -- you will find a lot of value in this book. Aujla and Parrish provide a great set of practical exercises and inspiring examples of people following their passions to create a sustainable future -- for themselves and for the planet.
  
  They point out that the business models in every industry are broken and "almost every aspect of our world is being rethought, redesigned and rebuilt in a way that does good for the world." All that disruption is creating new opportunites and new jobs, and Aujla and Parrish provide some very practical advice on how to find those opportunities, how to connect with others on the same path, how to mobilize people and resources, and how to design and launch a new social enterprise.
  
  The best books inspire both thought *and* action. This is one of those books. When you're done reading, you'll realize that you have no excuses left. The time to connect (or re-connect) your job with your passions and values is now. The time to launch your new social enterprise is now. You have all the talent, time and resources you need.
• Making Good mixes idealism and pragmatism and kneads them into a simple, down-to-earth guide to figuring out what you love to do! Making Good gives youth the tools they need to forgo traditional, beaten-down paths and create their own track to success. I read Making Good during a critical transition in my life. I had a promising career in business and Maryland state politics, but I was unhappy because I did not feel fulfilled by the work I was doing. After some intense prayer sessions and a few meetings with a handful of mentors, I came across Making Good. Thanks to the organizational tools, self-empowerment activities and personal testimonials in Making Good, I finally felt comfortable with resigning from my job, packing most valued possessions into my car and driving cross-country to start anew in California. In six months, I have started my own business and co-starred in a play, a television show and two films. I have built community. Most importantly, I truly believe I am spending each day in active pursuit of accomplishing my mission in life.
• I myself stumbled into being a `social entrepreneur,' which is one way to describe what Parish and Aujla are writing about (although that term doesn't do the book full justice). I wish I had had this book earlier in my life. It's serves both as an injection of inspiration and a dose of reality--in the form of some prompts for self-examination. I was familiar with basics of what Billy Parish had accomplished with the Energy Action Coalition, but this gave me a lot more personal insight. It's pretty cool to have that alongside the kind of coaching you might otherwise pay thousands of dollars for in a business class or a leadership institute. That alone makes this a good value, I think, for folks setting out on this kind of path (or finding themselves already on it, like me). I am going to buy several for some soon-to-be grads I know who are looking for jobs and who care about social change; I can't think of a better gift for them, actually.
• All I remember being told when I was growing up was when you decide what you want to do with your life make sure it is something you love. I believed wholeheartedly in this advice and still do. This book provides practical exercises and inspirational stories to light the path to finding the line of work you will love. The best part too is that the book always leads you back to your purpose for pursuing a job in life. The writing encourages the reader to clearly connect the motivation for making a difference to the goal of making money. Parish and Aujla acknowledge the undeniable financial necessity aligned with choosing this path and show how people are making a living while making good. The most significant lesson I learned from the book was that this is an option for everyone, not just a choice for a select few who have a particular skill set. We all have the ability to be good people and would all benefit from taking the time to read this book.
  
  I suggest cozying up with Making Good to enjoy the inspirational stories, while also picking times to actively read with a pencil and notepad to make sure you truly interact with the reading. Most of all I hope you too find a useful guide to finding your purposeful path toward change.
